Pay for Patient Value (P4PV) aims at improving the quality of life for patients receiving a total hip replacement by incentivizing providers to deliver higher outcomes. We developed a reimbursement model for hip and knee replacements that links payment to what matters to patients, i.e. clinical outcomes, patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and indication quality. The P4PV model is compatible with existing Swiss registries and payment systems.
