In this Lunch & Learn session, Mirjam Garvelink and Jet Westerink explore the role of patients as active partners in Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) — both at the individual level in the consultation room and at the collective level in improvement and decision-making teams.
Drawing on their research and practical experience at the St. Antonius Hospital (Santeon, The Netherlands), the speakers illustrate how patient participation can be meaningfully embedded in VBHC initiatives. The session highlights concrete examples of shared decision making, collective patient involvement, and the organizational conditions required to translate patient engagement from principle into everyday practice.
